Lyric Analysis

In these images below you will be able to see that I have analysed the song lyrics for the song I am going to use for my music video. By analysing this song line by line I will be able to gain a better perspective on the song and will be able to understand the meaning behind it which will really help me when constructing my music video as I could possibly create a narrative from the meanings behind the lyrics. While analysing this song, I was able understand how the artist feels which helped me to generate more ideas than before I had analysed the lyrics. Here are the lyrics for 'Not Enough' by Avril Lavigne that I have analysed: 

Some features I wanted to mention about these lyrics but was unable to because there was a lack of room on the paper, was the fact that these lyrics represent modern day problems which can lead to the main target audience and maybe anyone that listens to the song being able to relate to it which is what will make it more powerful because people will be able to listen to the song and know that other people are going through the same complications as they are. On top of that, the 1st person singular pronoun 'I' and 2nd person singular pronoun 'You' has been used throughout the song which highlights that the singer is expressing her feelings to her partner and that it is rather personal to her which will often create a stronger emotion for the listener. 

People will always interpret songs in different ways which is why there could be many different themes for this song, some of those themes could be; difficulties in a relationship as seen in the lyrics "It's not enough. To give me what it is I want", her partner could possibly be cheating which could be seen in the lyrics "When I said I want more I got no more. You weren't stealing me away" - this could demonstrate that her partner is no longer giving her what she wants and is giving it to someone else. Finally, if you wanted to go really deep into the lyrics, then you could possibly say it is a song about suicide as the singer is not getting enough from life anymore and would rather give it up which can be seen in the lyrics "I wish it was. I think its time to give this up".
