Poll Research

To help me gain a greater understanding of my intended target audience I decided to create a poll on my blog where anyone that approaches my blog will be able to fill in the answer I have asked questions for. The questions I have put on my blog are based more around the genre of Pop Punk rather than just general question like I have previously done on the survey I have created; I have also included both demographic and psychographic related questions so I can find out more about Pop Punk fans which will help me in creating my music video because I will know what people who like this genre enjoy seeing. To show you how I have created this poll, I decided to record the screen while I was creating this poll to allow you to see how it was created. Here is the video I have constructed:

I have added seven different questions to my blog which you would have just witnessed in this video, but the questions I have put on my blog include: 'What is your gender?', 'How old are you?', 'How often do you listen to Pop Punk music?', 'Which of these bands/artists have you heard of /listened to?', 'Do you enjoy watching music videos?', 'Which of these five music videos is your favourite?' and 'What type of music video do you prefer to watch?'. By asking these questions I will hopefully be getting a lot of responses from Pop Punk fans which will help me when constructing my own music video. By asking some demographic questions, I am able to get a greater understanding of the age group and gender that are more likely to watch a Pop Punk music video, so I am able to appeal to a certain category more than another. By asking these some psychographic questions, I am able to find out more information about the the person themselves;what they like when it comes to Pop Punk music videos and if there is something that they really enjoy seeing, then I will more than likely try to add it to my music video to entice more people from this genre - however, in relation to Chris Anderson's Long Tail theory, I probably won't use something that one out of twenty people may say because it will only be appealing to that niche audience and I want to appeal to a mass audience. I feel that after putting these questions on my blog, more people will want to fill in the questions because the majority of my blog is about Pop Punk, so if people are regularly looking on my blog, then they will hopefully like to fill in the questions I have put on my blog. I have left the poll running until 1st January 2017, so I am able to create the first draft of my music video and if I find that there are more responses where people have said they like certain things that I have not included in my music video, then I will be able to add these features into my second draft - also, it gives people more time to complete the poll if they have not yet seen it.

In addition, I then wanted to promote this poll further like I have previously done with my survey, but I wanted to approach people that actually like this genre. So I have only posted about my poll on Twitter, where I have asked people to participate because I know that a range of people on Twitter have fan accounts for certain artists and a lot of these type of users follow me, who also like the genre Pop Punk, so by posting this on Twitter I will hopefully get more people to complete my poll which will again help me if I am wanting to make any changes in who I want my audience to be or what I would like to do in my music video. I decided not to post  and promote this on my Facebook wall or to email other people like I did with my survey because I knew that the majority of the friends I have on Facebook do not like Pop Punk as much as people I know on Twitter do and emailing it would have meant that people would have replied stating that they do not like Pop Punk music and would not be able to fill in the poll because it would not be helpful towards my investigation.
